Aung Myint
Aung Myint, the founder of Inya Art Gallery, was born in Yangon in 1946 and earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Rangoon Art & Science University. He began exhibiting his self-taught artwork while still a student at Rangoon University, holding his first show in 1960.

Today, Aung Myint is a renowned figure in Myanmar's contemporary art scene, celebrated as the father of Myanmar's Modern Art. He is an artist who demonstrates versatility beyond painting, with performance and sculptural works.

Throughout his career, Aung Myint has participated in numerous group shows in Myanmar, the Asia Pacific, and Europe. He has held a total of 16 solo shows in Myanmar, Germany, the United States, Japan, Hong Kong, and Singapore. In 2002, he earned both an ASEAN Art Awards and Myanmar Art Awards for his Mother & Child series. This series features one or two unbroken lines of black acrylic in a gestural form, typically done atop canvas and traditional Shan paper.

Aung Myint's works are featured in notable private collections in many countries, including Singapore, Japan, Thailand, Germany, The Netherlands, Hungary, Australia, The United States, and France. His artworks can also be seen at several prominent museums, including The National Art Gallery in Singapore, The National Gallery in Malaysia, Fukuoka Art Museum in Japan, Macau Performance Art Museum in Macau, Vehbi Koc Foundation in Turkey, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York City, USA and Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) in Brisbane, Australia.
